I never tried Linux what so ever on the netbook. Last night I got it all fixed, and best of all I understand what went wrong.

In summary if it were me I would attempt to fix the MBR but let us know some more details if you can. If you do really have Grub installed then running suitable Grub rescue commands should get the machine booting but I have to say I don’t understand why you are getting the Grub error if Linux was not run on the sammy? Did you per chance try a Linux Live CD? or perhaps Diskadmin got confused? See details in this thread and this may be an option to be considered. You can repair the MBR with the Admin Tool using the ‘Fix MBR’ function to get F4 working again. Presumably the machine is now un-bootable and halting at the Grub Rescue Mode prompt?

did F4 offer and allow the Full Restore option sequence to be performed or did it just fail? You say F4 works and then it doesn’t? Perhaps you could provide some more information ie. Grub usually indicates that a Linux installer has been run and the MBR will be corrupted which normally results in the at boot recovery option not working.
